Have you noticed how time-tested gardening practices have been making a comeback? One popular trend among even novice gardeners is the use of rain barrels. Collected for non-potable use, rainwater is a free resource that has been vastly underutilized.
It was a good spring for the Garden and our local gardeners. The weather was quite nice for the cool weather crops. The large amount of rainfall was both a blessing and a curse.

James Martin, new owner of Gilardi’s Ristorante and the Grey Gables at 820 E. Walnut, will host two events Saturday, June 8th, 2013: the First Annual Garden Gathering and Plant Exchange, and the First Annual Community Visioning Day.
Despite the soggy weather, Beach 4-H’s “Yard Sale” fundraiser for their planned camping trip was quite successful.
April 27th is Springfield’s big day to kick off the spring season. The Hillbilly Gardeners and the Master Gardeners will be having their annual plant sales, The C-Street Farmer’s Market kicks off the 2013 season, and Grant Beach Neighborhood Association will have their Spring Cleanup that morning.
Fifteen MSU students volunteered April 13, 2013 to mark MSU’s Health and Wellness Fair.
Forty five MSU Students from DZ and TKE pitched in and made massive progress Sunday, April 7th!
