April 27th is Springfield’s big day to kick off the spring season. The Hillbilly Gardeners and the Master Gardeners will be having their annual plant sales, The C-Street Farmer’s Market kicks off the 2013 season, and Grant Beach Neighborhood Association will have their Spring Cleanup that morning.

Urban Roots Farm is taking applications for their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). You can get fresh vegetables year round grown right in town!
Delta Zeta Sorority and the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity of Missouri State University will be volunteering at the Grant Beach Garden this weekend, April 7. They will be working in two shifts that Sunday afternoon. We’ll start the groundwork for new beds along the south side of the garden path, and/or lay in a new strawberry bed.

The main Garden is well established and will be at 100% production. We have sufficient quality topsoils for the spring crops. Summer crops may need a bit more compost, but the quantities on hand and judicious plant selections can meet our 100% goal for the main Garden area through the year.
