Tuesday June 16, 2026 - Small Farm Food Safety with Patrick Byers

TIME: 10 - 12 PM

Where: 4344 S Fremont Ave, Springfield, MO 65804

Farmers are not interested in making people sick! This class will discuss the intersection of produce food safety and farming practices. Topics will include health and hygiene, safe use of manures and amendments, animals and produce, water, safe handling practices at harvest, and development of a farm food safety plan. The instructor is retired MU Extension horticulture field specialist and produce food safety specialist Patrick Byers.

This event is FREE and open to the public, no need to register.


Sunday, July 19th 2026 - Dinner in a Cave Fundraiser - SOLD OUT

TIME: 5 - 7 PM

Step underground at Crystal Cave for an unforgettable local dinner with Springfield Community Gardens and Eating the Ozarks! Crystal Cave, located in Springfield Missouri is the second oldest ‘Show Cave’ in the state, opening in 1893! Join us for a Show Me Local Dinner Underground at a perfect 68 degrees in July. Dinner will feature a menu curated by Chef Rachael West (Eating the Ozarks) from local farms you love, wild edibles in season and live music! 100% of the proceeds will go to Springfield Community Gardens non-profit!Once you arrive you'll enjoy a guided 30 minute cave tour to explore the amazing formations Crystal Cave has to offer.
